ColdFront was founded out of the opportunity to unify two of western Canada’s longest-standing carrier distributors: Hiway Refrigeration and Eskimo Refrigeration.

For over 50 years, Hiway Refrigeration had been British Columbia’s Carrier Transicold dealer, providing temperature control equipment, parts, and service to the transportation industry. At the same time, Eskimo Refrigeration served the Alberta and Saskatchewan markets with similar purposes as the Carrier & Webasto dealer.

These two dealerships forged their legacies in Western Canada beginning in the mid-1960’s, growing and thriving in our western economy over the past half-century. In 2018, we were very pleased to announce that Hiway Refrigeration had acquired Eskimo Refrigeration from the Fleming family, uniting to form ColdFront®.

ColdFront® unifies the strong legacies of the Eskimo and Hiway teams, allowing us the unique opportunity to deliver a consistent and predictable customer experience across Western Canada. A number of our senior technicians have been a part of this story for over 30 years and continue to provide unrivaled expertise and knowledge to our customers and mentorship for our younger technicians.
